KNOEDLER SCHOOL OF PRACTICAL NURSE EDUCATION

The Knoedler School of Practical Nurse Education is an 11-month program beginning every September. It is approved by the Ohio State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. It has been developed to prepare the student to perform basic nursing skills under the direction of a licensed physician or registered nurse. The program includes nursing theory, lab and planned clinical experience in a variety of health care settings. The lab has an adult, pediatric and infant simulator to assist the student at increasing their critical thinking skills and confidence.

Upon completion of the program, the student is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for certification as a licensed practical nurse. The license may be transferred to any state. The Ohio Board of Nursing may deny, suspend or revoke a license if an applicant has a criminal history. Successful completion of the program does not guarantee licensure.

To register for the pre-entrance test click here or view the  2023-2024 LPN Brochure with the scheduled pre-entrance test dates.

A $30 testing fee is required and early testing is strongly encouraged.

Acceptance letters for the upcoming class
are mailed the first week of June.

The Ohio Board of Nursing website has multiple resources. It contains the scope of practice for the LPN, information about educational programs and directions to apply for licensure after program completion.  www.nursing.ohio.gov

Employment during the past 20 years of the program’s existence has been virtually 100%. Employment opportunities for the practical nurse continue to abound.
