Students and parents need lots of information before making the choice to transfer from the home high school to the A-Tech. We hope the following questions and answers help you make an informed choice!

A-Tech – High School

1. How many career technical programs are offered at A-Tech?

A-Tech offers 19 two-year programs, beginning in the student’s junior year of high school. The Career Technical Exploration Program is designed for students who are at least 16 years old and have not yet obtained junior status. Students who successfully complete the Career-Technical Exploration Program are eligible to apply for entry into any two-year program at the A-Tech.

A-Tech students spend one-half of the day in the program of their choice and the remainder of the day completing academic coursework. The A-Tech curriculum includes academic courses in English, Science, History, Math, and American Government. A-Tech works closely with home school districts to align the curriculum with home school and state standards.

Yes, upon satisfactorily completing the home school and Ohio State Graduation Requirements students will receive a high school diploma from the participating home school. A goal of A-Tech students is to not only obtain a high school diploma, but to also obtain a Career-Technical Certificate of Completion.
 
A-Tech students also have the opportunity to earn industry certifications and college credit!

Yes! Students are encouraged to participate in home school athletics and extra-curricular activities.
Coaches, music directors, and club advisors will work with A-Tech students to make sure that they will have the opportunity to participate in home school activities. Home school guidance counselors meet at A-Tech each month to provide information on up-coming home school events. When necessary, A-Tech students may be excused from class to fulfill commitments and attend these activities.
 
 

6. How does the A-Tech help students successfully connect with job opportunities?

A-Tech students that meet early placement requirements can attend school and work half the day in a related job. While at work, students are graded and paid by the employer. Specific guidelines must be met and transportation to and from the work site is the student’s responsibility. Many of these job opportunities lead to full-time employment after graduation.

Yes, many A-Tech students have gone on to be successful in two- and four- year college programs and apprenticeship programs.
Students also gain a competitive advantage at A-Tech by earning college credit while they are still in high school.

Yes. A-Tech students can gain a competitive edge by earning college credit while they are still in high school!

Yes. 
A-Tech has met the high standards required for accreditation in the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Accreditations and approving agencies include:

10. Does the A-Tech provide programs and services for students and parents with special concerns?

The A-Tech Guidance Department provides a broad range of counseling and consulting services for students, staff, parents, and home schools. Services to parents include providing information on their child’s goals and progress. When required, we will inform and update them about their child’s Individualized Education Program . Also, an Access Advisor will work closely with colleges and technical schools to provide access and information to students and families. Plus, all students have a “LINKS” faculty advisor to encourage the development of positive life-skill activities.

Yes, we offer testing on campus. Remediation classes are also offered to help students better prepare for the tests.

With the wonderful support of the community, the A-Tech offers free public education through the tax support of citizens and businesses. Many programs require students to purchase lab items (uniforms, safety wear, tools, workbooks, etc.). However, because many of the items are used during both the junior and senior year, often times the senior fees are lower.
 
 

13. What kinds of clubs or extra-curricular activities are offered to A-Tech students?

A-Tech offers many opportunities for students to participate in numerous activities, including skill and leadership competitions, leadership council, field trips, intramural athletics, an annual school talent show, as well as seasonal charity and Red Cross Bloodmobile drives. The Career-Technical Organizations and Associations include: Business Professionals of America, DECA, Family, Career, and Community Leadership of America (FCCLA), FFA, SkillsUSA, National Cosmetology Association and National Honors Society.

Sophomores and juniors living with their parent and/or legal guardian within an A-Tech participating school district should complete an online enrollment intent form.

A-Tech – Workforce Development

1. Is $50 registration fee in addition to the tuition fee?

NO.  The $50.00 registration fee is part of your tuition.

NO.  All books and supplies are included in tuition fee unless otherwise specified.

NO.  Only courses considered full-time are eligible for the Pell grant.  
A full-time course is any course 600 hours or more.
